The British and French forces checked the advance of the German forces in the battle of Marne.

This battle is called battle of Marne because of its happening at marne river. Russian few victories force German army to shift their force to east in haste and as a result British and Germans pushed German troops along Marne river which also ended german hope for victory in western front
