Battle of Plassey -when British won battle of Plassey, they got a monopoly over trade in Bengal and gradually ousted the French and the Dutch. As Mir Jafar was a puppet in the hands of the English, they gradually extended their political control over the province. The rich resources of Bengal made them financially stable to further extend their political designs in India. According to Colonel Malleson, the only aim of the Company's officials was " to grasp all they could; to use Mir Jafar as a golden sack into which they could dip their hands at pleasure .

Battle of Buxar -

It clearly displayed the superior military power of the English. The whole of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa(Odisha) was now at their feet. Now, the entire territory up to Allahabad came under their control and English geared themselves to check the increasing power of the Marathas . In AD 1765, by a royal verdict of the Mughal emperor, Shah Alam-2 , the company got the Diwani or the right to collect revenue of Bihar, Bengal and Odisha . This meant that the revenue from India could now finance the Company expenses like purchase of cotton and silk textiles, maintenance of the Company's vast troops and meeting the cost of building of Company's offices and forts at Calcutta(Kolkata). Thus, the Battle of Buxar completed the work of Battle of Plassey .
