Answer:

The British system of education produced English-speaking Indian graduates who helped their British masters to run the empire.

It also created a class of Indians who were westernized to the extent that they rejected Indian culture and patronized anything and everything that was British, including British goods.

Hope it helped you mate.... XD

answer is YES! I am not saying whether that it was the right approach or not but it has helped indians a lot... there were Indians who wanted to pursue their careers in foreign nations and they were able to do so only because they were able to communicate in English. Government, traders, and other economic entities need to have the perfect knowledge about the outside world and to get the required information from other parts of the world, it is necessary for them to select a standard language for communication. selecting that is not possible tho but still English is spoken by billions of people for that purpose. English is used by many people all around the world for communication and is one of the international languages. Indian languages such as hindi, bengali, marathi etc do not fall into the group of international languages and hence in the growth of Indian economy, English language has proved itself to be a huge advantage. even french is regarded as an international language and so there are many schools in India which offer french as a sixth subject.

introduction of western practices did trouble many Indians back then but in the long run, it has helped us...

see everything has pros and cons so there's no point in saying that western education is not at all a boon to our country
