Brown is the answer

It's because

Cu is brown in colour. It reacts with air (O2) to form CuO which is black in colour

Now H2 gas is passed over this black surface now CuO will react with H2 and form Cu + H2O(water) ..Now Cu is left so Cu is brown in colour so Brown must be the answer.
