The bus fare in a city is as follows. For the first five kilometres the fare is `10 and for the subsequent distance it is `2 per km. Taking the distance covered as x km and total fare as `y, write a linear equation for this information and draw its graph. What will the bus fare for 10 km and 19 km.

Answer:

10km = Rupees 20

19km = Rupees 38

Step-by-step explanation:

The previous answer giver's answer was right. She / he just wrote 83 instead of 38. Equation formed is the same, i.e, y = 10 + 2(x - 5)

Put the values wanted like 10 or 19 in place of total distance or X. And U will get ur answer. No different process is their. For the graph. Find values of x and y by the common trial method and draw.

Making it EASY for u:- y = 2x (from the equation itself)

Put x = 1 , 2,3 and so on. 3 minimum needed.

Hope it helps.

Answer:

The bus fare for 10 km is Rs 20 and for 19 km is Rs 38.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Fare for the first five km = Rs 10

Fare for subsequent distance per km = Rs 2

Distance covered = x km

Total fare = y

  • Since,  for the first five km, the fare is Rs 10, and the total distance traveled is x km, the distance for which the fare needs to be calculated is x - 5.
  • The fare for the subsequent distance per km is Rs 2, therefore for

        (x - 5) km, the fare becomes  2 (x-5).

  • The total fare given in the question is y.

\implies 10+2(x-5)=y

\implies 10+2x-10=y

\implies2x=y

The equation for this is  2x=y.

The graph for this equation is plotted below.

\implies For the distance, x = 10 km, fare, y =  2x

                                                        =  2(10)

                                                        = Rs 20

\implies For the distance, x = 19 km, fare, y =  2x

                                                        =  2(19)

                                                        = Rs 38
