Let the compound me MCO3

MCO3---->MO+CO2

As 50% of compound is metal

So weight of metal=weight of carbonate=x

Weight of oxygen in carbonate =48*x/60

Weight of oxygen in MO molecule is (48*x/60)/3 because o3 has been split to o and o2

So equivalent weight of metal= mass of metal/mass of o *8=8x/(48*x/180)=30g
