Answer:

Damaging the cell membrane like to impact the functions of the cell because cell membrane acts as a semi-permeable membrane which allows the entry and exit of some materials in and out of the cell. ... Thus, the functional properties of the cell will lost and the cell will die.

I'm giving this answer a bit detailed....

Explanation:

Cell membrane is a very important component of a cell. How is damage to the cell membrane likely to affect the function of a cell?

Cell membrane acts as a semi permeable membrane. It controls the amount of substance going inside and coming outside the cell. It acts as a barrier and separates the cell from the external environment. Many toxic substance , but it is useful and importantcannot enter the cell due to cell membrane. The integrity of the cell i.e the size and structure of tue cell is maintained by cell membrane.

Therefore damage to the cell membranes can lead to entry of toxic substance inside the cell which can destroy the nucleus and other cell organelles.

Damage to cell membrane can also lead to leakage of important cell constituents required for various metabolism of the cell.

There can also be imbalance of electrolyte concentration in the cell which could lead to damage of proteins and organelles of the cell.
