The cell membrane is a very important components of a cell. How is damage to the cell membrane likely to impact the functions of the cell?

Yes, cell membrane is an essential part of cell...if it get ruptured, the cell will not be able to survive any long as the cytoplasm of cell will not get a fixed boundary within which it has to keep itself....and all the contents of the cell will split and get into the outer environment...

Yes, the cell membrane is a very important component of a cell.

This is because cell wall can be defined as the rigid layer of polysaccharides which is present outside the plasma membrane of the cells of the living organism. It is composed of cellulose in plants, fungi, and bacteria.  Animal cells do not have cell walls as they do not need them.

In plants cell wall mainly involves in the maintain the shape of cell, therefore, the damage of cell wall in a cell can cause damage of cell and also effects the movement of the cell in plants.
