Cells in our body have specific functions. These specific functions are allocated by the DNA in the chromatin. The chromatin is made of chromosomes, which are stained thread like structures. Moreover, the chromosomes and the chromatin are a part of the nucleus. Now, this nucleus is something that divides during cell division and mitosis. 

Hence, when a single cell divides it gives two daughter cells, of same DNA. Each cell, with a different function, would further divide to give two cells with the same function. 

Hence, this shows that the cells in our body are of different types mainly because of the DNA of the cell.
