The Central Hall of a school is 18 M long and 12.5 M wide a carpet is to be laid on the floor leaving the strip 50 cm wide near the walls and covered find the area of the carpet and also the uncovered portion

Area of the hall=(18+12.5)2
=61 M
Now the area of the uncovered region is
=2(18*.5+12.5*.5)
=31.5M
Area of the carpet =61-31.5=29.5M
