The Central hall of a school is 22 m long and 15.5 m wide . A carpet is to be laid on the floor leaving a strip of 75 am width from the walls uncovered . find the area of the carpet and the areas of the strip left uncovered. ​

area of carpet would be equal to the

area of rectangle with dimensions

(22-0.75-0.75=) 20.5 m and (15.5-0.75-0.75) = 14m

The area of the carpet would be equal to

14*20.5 = 287 m2

The area of strip would be equal to

area of hall-area of carpet

= 22*15.5-14*20.5

= 341-287m2

= 54m2
