Gandhi considered the champaran episode as a turning point in his life because he realised that civil disobedience, which has triumphed for the first time, could go a long way in the freedom struggle. Moreover he had succeeded in making the peasant's aware od their rights and become confident. This success, thus proved, the effectiveness of Gandhi's method of non-violence and non-cooperation.
