Chordata is the most advanced animal phylum . the main distinctive characters of this phylum r :-
1) NOTOCHORD , a solid unjointed rod , is present in chordates at some stages of life . In lower chordates is persist throughout life , but in higher ones , it is present in embryo and is surrounded or replaced by vertebral column.
2) A DORSAL HOLLOW NERVE CORD develops in embryo which usually persist throughout life in most chordates.
3) Gills slits r present at some ages of life.
4) A tail is present is present behind the cloacal or anal opening at some stage of life .
5 ) By radial symmetry, triploblastic & segmented body .
