Answer:

Water melon ate by Children = 3/8

Water melon ate by Grand mother = 2/8

 \frac{3}{8}  +  \frac{2}{8}  =  \frac{3 + 2}{8}

 =  \frac{5}{8}

So, Total part of watermelon eaten = 5/8

Given: Part of the watermelon ate by children = \frac{3}{8}

           Part of the watermelon ate by grandmother = \frac{2}{8}

To find: How much part of watermelon was eaten in total

Let: Total part of watermelon be 1

Solution: According to the given question and assumption made:

Total part of watermelon eaten = Part eaten by children + Part eaten by grandmother

                                                     = \frac{3}{8}   + \frac{2}{8}

                                                     = \frac{3 + 2}{8} = \frac{5}{8}

Hence, part of watermelon eaten in total was 5/8.
