Question:

The circumferences of two circles are touching externally. The distance between their centres is 12 cm. The radius of one circle is 7 cm. Find the diameter(in cm) of the other circle.

A) 12

B) 10

C) 8

D) 5

Given:

  • The radius of First circle => 7 cm.
  • Distance between the circumferences of two circles => 12 cm

To Find:

Diameter of the second circle.

Answer:.

Let r_{1} = 7 be the radius of first circle and r_{2} be the radius of second circle.

(Figure is in attachment)

\implies r_{1}+r_{2}=12

\implies 7+r_{2}=12

\implies r_{2}=12-7

\implies r_{2}=5

∴ Diamter of the second circle

\implies 2\times 5

\implies 10

∴ 10 is the diameter of second circle(option-B)

Hope it helps :)
