The comparison has been made between the Silicon Valley in USA. Silicon Valley referring to the Santa Clara Valley, which serves as the global center for high technology, venture capital, innovation, and social media. The word "silicon" originally referred to the large number of silicon chip innovators and manufacturers in the region, but the area is now the home to many of the world's largest high-tech corporations, including big names like Google, Apple and Adobe.

Bangalore emerged as the IT hub in the 1980s and quickly became the leader in IT industry in India. Since Bengaluru is the major hub for IT companies, it became known as the Silicon Valley of India. Infosys, Wipro and Flipcart all started here.
