1 )Compound ratio of 4 : 7 and 3 : 5

= ( 4 × 3 ) : ( 7 × 5 )

= 12 : 35 ----( 1 )

2 ) compound ratio of 3 : 7 and 2 : p

= ( 3 × 2 ) : ( 7 × p )

= 6 : 7p -----( 2 )

According to the problem given ,

( 1 ) = ( 2 )

12 : 35 = 6 : 7p

Product of extrems = product of

means

12 × 7p = 35 × 6

p = ( 35 × 6 ) / ( 12 × 7 )

p = 5 / 2
