Dear Rajiv,
I hope you are enjoying good health. I received your letter yesterday and everyone in my house was looking forward to a letter from you. I am enjoying my school after summer vacations. I visited Kolkata, Mumbai and Chandigarh during the vacations and enjoyed a lot with my family.
Well, I want to tell you about the new and innovative idea which I got to witness during my visit to Mumbai. An NGO has set up community fridges in the neighboring schools so that school kids can donate their lunch box to those who don’t have any lunch. They are also raising awareness in the schools to avoid wasting food and encouraging the children to fill these fridges with food to help the needy people. Although, it’s a new idea and but it is getting quite popular in the country.
I believe it’s a great idea to set up community fridges around schools, colleges, hotels, restaurants, etc. These community fridges are creating awareness about excess and leftover food, also, an opportunity to the people to donate food to those, who don’t have. The people who are poor and needy have access to these fridges around the clock without any shame of asking for food. This will make it easier to help the hungry people.
I am thinking about working with this NGO to raise social awareness among the people. I know, with the use of these kind of community fridges, we can help people.
You also told me in your letter about the Onam holidays. I hope you will be able to come here during these holidays. My parents convey to you their love and all the members of our house wish you best of luck for your final exams.
