Answer:

Sustainable development is the organizing principle for meeting human development goals while simultaneously sustaining the ability of natural systems to provide the natural resources and ecosystem services based upon which the economy and society depend.

Explanation:

It is a matter of criticism --

since any positive rate of exploitation will eventually lead to the exhaustion of earth's finite stock; this perspective renders the Industrial Revolution as a whole unsustainable. It has also been argued that the meaning of the concept has opportunistically been stretched from 'conservation management' to 'economic development', and that the Brundtland Report promoted nothing but a business as usual strategy for world development, with an ambiguous and insubstantial concept attached as a public relations slogan.

Sustainable development means a type of development strategy that is followed by keeping in mind the efficient use of resources available so that they can be preserved for future generations.  These resources should be present for the coming generation to fulfill their needs as well.

It is the subject of criticism because if we try to implement sustainable goals various roadblock comes in the way and many a time it proved to be costlier. This also slows down the process of development.

For example, The use of fossil fuels needs to be curbed so that it can be used by the coming generations. To substitute it with a new form of source of energy, we developed various things like hydrogen fuel, etc. but these are very costlier and still in the research phase, and these also pose another kind of threat.

Another example can be groundwater. Groundwater is continuously getting depleted at a very faster pace. The major portion of industrialization and urbanization is a threat to it and also contributes to its pollution of it. If this will continue then, we will not be left with these precious resources for our children which is the backbone for the survival of living beings.
