The condition here is that for the first four sums, the answer must lie between 0 to 50. For the next four sums, the answer must lie between 51 and 100.In the two sets of sums, the four sums must be as follows: 1. One sum based on multiplication of fractions. 2. One sum based on division of fractions. 3. One sum based on multiplication of decimals. 4. One sum based on division of decimals. The sum could be just a number statement like 15.65/10 or it could be a word problem.(Stress should be laid on creating new sums by the students rather than taking it from other books)

Given :  first four sums, the answer must lie between 0 to 50. For the next four sums, the answer must lie between 51 and 100.

To Find :  1. One sum based on multiplication of fractions.

2. One sum based on division of fractions.

3. One sum based on multiplication of decimals.

4. One sum based on division of decimals

Solution:

multiplication of fractions

Multiply     52 /  7   with   7/2

52/ 7  * 7/  2   = 26    ( between  1  and 50)

Multiply   122 /  7   with   7/2

122/ 7  * 7/  2   = 61    ( between  51  and 100)

based on division of fractions.

Divide  52/7  by   2/7    = 26   ( between  1  and 50)

Divide  122/7  by   2/7    =  61 ( between  51  and 100)

based on multiplication of decimals.

5.5  x  4.4  =  24.2  ( between  1  and 50)

10.5  x 8.4  = 88.2     ( between  51  and 100)

division of decimals.

10.2  / 2.5  =  4.08   ( between  1  and 50)

30.5/0.5   =  61  ( between  51  and 100)
