The majority of the expansion were earlier made by Muslims and most of the lands in the Middle East were under their reign. The Christians wanted to reclaim their Holy Land in the Middle East, bring an end to the expansion of the Mughal empires. So,  in order to recapture the land occupied by the Muslims which were once owned by Christians, the Christians Empires in Western Europe launched the Crusades. The ensuing conflict and rivalry led to war and the results of the war changed the social and political inclinations of the regions that were captured according to the victors.
