and, no. of eraser be y

x+3y=10. multiple it by 2
4x+6y=28

2x + 6y= 20
4x+6y= 28
-2x= -8
x=4

x+3y=10
4 + 3y = 10
y= 10-4/3
y=6/3
y = 2

cost of 5 pencil and 4 eraser =5x+4y
=5×4+4×2
=20+8
=28
