Answer:

20%

Step-by-step explanation:

CP of 12 candles =x

sp of 15 candles =x

cp of 12 candles =sp of 15 candles

sp of 1 candle =x÷12

sp of 1 candle = x÷15

loss =cp- sp

=x÷12-x÷15

=5x-4x÷60

=x÷60

x÷60÷x+12×100

=12÷60×100

loss=20%

Correct Question :-

The cost price of 12 candles is equal to the selling price of 15 candles.Find the loss precent.

Given :-

  • The CP of 12 candles is equal to the SP of 15 candles.

To find :-

  • The loss precent = ?

Solution :-

Let the SP of 15 candles be Rs 100

CP of 12 candles = SP of 15 candles = Rs 100

CP of 15 candles = \rm\dfrac{100}{12}\times{15}

CP of 15 candles = \rm\dfrac{1500}{12}

CP of 15 candles = Rs 125

So, SP < CP we know that,when CP is greater than SP then, it is loss.

Now,

Loss = CP - SP

Loss = 125 - 100

Loss = Rs 25

Then,

we know that,

\blue{\bigstar}\:\:{\underline{\boxed{\bf\red{Loss\:\%=\dfrac{loss}{Cp}\times{100}}}}}

\rm\longrightarrow\:Loss\:\%=\dfrac{25}{\cancel{125}}\times{\cancel{100}}

\rm\longrightarrow\:Loss\:\%=\dfrac{25\times{20}}{25}

\rm\longrightarrow\:Loss\:\%=\dfrac{500}{25}

\rm\longrightarrow\:Loss\:\%=20\:\%

Hence,the loss percent will be 20%.
