Let the cost of chair be x and Cost of table will be x+40
Given in the question,
2(x+40)+3x=705.
2x+80+3x=705.
5x=705-80.
x= 625/5
= 125.
Chair = 125.
Table = x+40=125+40=165.
Table and chair= 125+165=290
Hope it helps.

let the cost of one table be x
and one chair be y

• 2 tables + 3 chairs = ₹ 705

2x + 3y = ₹ 705 ....... ( i )

• Table cost ₹40 more than the chair

x = 40 + y ........ ( ii )

Putting ( ii ) in ( i )

2x + 3y = 705

2 ( 40 + y ) + 3y = 705

80 + 2y + 3y = 705

5y = 625

y = 125

Putting in ( ii )

x = 40 + y

x = 40 + 125

x = 165

Cost of table is ₹165
Cost of Chair is ₹125
