Answer:

suppose the cost one pen is m rupees and cost of one pencil is n rupees.

therefore

4m + 8n = 84

by second condition

n = 12 + m

that is

m - n = -12

after solving this equations the value of m = 6 and value of n = 18

therefore the value of a pen will be 6 and that of the pencil will be 18.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

let the number of pen be x

let the number of pencils be y

4x+8y=84-(1)

x=12y

x-12y=0-(2)

from 1 and 2 equation(by elimitation method)

4x+8y=84

x-12y=0(×4)

4x+8y=84

4x-48y=0

56y=84

y=84/56

y=1.5

x-12 (1.5)=0

x-18=0

x=18

therefore cost of one pen=18

and cost of one pencil=1.5
