Given :- The cost of a loaf of bread is x cents. The cost of a cake is (x - 5) cents. The total cost of 6 loaves of bread and 11 cakes is $13.56.

To Find :-

  • value of x ?

Answer :-

we know that,

→ $1 = 100 cents

so,

→ $13.56 = 13.56 * 100 = 1356 cents .

now,

→ cost of a loaf of bread = x cents

so,

→ cost of 6 loaves of bread = 6 * x = 6x cents

and,

→ cost of 1 cake = ( x - 5) cents .

so,

→ cost of 11 cakes = 11 * (x - 5) = (11x - 55) cents .

A/q,

→ cost of 6 loaves of bread + cost of 11 cakes = 1356 cents

→ 6x + 11x - 55 = 1356

→ 17x = 1356 + 55

→ 17x = 1411

→ x = 83 cents (Ans.)
