Answer:

Formula

Area of the rectangle = Length × Breadth

As given

A room is 20m long and 18m broad.

Carpet of width 1.5m at the rate of ₹ 60 per metre .

Thus

Area of the room = 20 × 18

                             = 360 m²

As breadth of the carpet = 1.5 m

Thus

Length of the carpet × Breadth of the carpet = Area of the room

Length of the carpet × 1.5 = 360

Length of the carpet = 240 m

Thus

Cost of the carpeting = Length of the carpet × Cost per meter

                                    = 240 × 60

                                    =  ₹ 14400

Therefore the cost of the carpeting is  ₹ 14400
