The cost of carpeting a room 12 m wide with a carpet of width 85 cm at * 120 per metre is 28800. Find the length of the room.​

Now, Area of carpet  = Area of room = 12 L

So, length of carpet = \dfrac{Area of carpet}{breadth of carpet}

Or,  , length of carpet = \dfrac{12L}{0.85}

Now, cost of carpeting the room at rate Rs 120 per meters = Rs 28800

i.e  Total cost = \dfrac{rate of carpeting}{length of room}

Or, Rs 28800   = Rs 120× \dfrac{12L}{0.85}  

Or,  28800 × 0.85  = 1440 L

Or,  24480 = 1440 L

∴        L = \dfrac{24480}{1440}

i.e      L = 17 meters

So, The length of carpet = L = 17 meters

Or, The length of room = L = 17 meters
