The cost
of carpeting a square room at Rs. 250 per square meter is
Rs. 81,000. If it costs Rs. 28,800 to plaster the four walls
at the rate of Rs. 100 per square meter, what is the height
of the room?

Solution

  • area of floor= 40500/125

=324 sq. meter

Hence,

side of floor of room is √324=18m

Lateral surface area is 2 h(l+b) where h is height

L.S.A(lateral surface area)= 14400/50

= 288

Hence,

288=2h(18+18)

288/2=h*36

144=36h

144/36=h

4 m=height
