SOLUTION

GIVEN

The cost of renting a car for a day is 0.50 per mile plus a 15 flat fee.

TO DETERMINE

  • The equation to represent this relationship. Let x be the number of miles driven and y be the total cost for the day.

  • The graph of this equation form on a coordinate plane

  • The slope and the y-intercept of the graph of the relationship

EVALUATION

Here it is given that The cost of renting a car for a day is 0.50 per mile plus a 15 flat fee.

Now x be the number of miles driven and y be the total cost for the day.

So total cost = 0.50x + 15

So by the given condition

 \sf{y = 0.50x + 15}

Which is the required equation to represent the relationship

Graph : The graph is refer to the attachment

The obtained equation is

 \sf{y = 0.50x + 15}

So the slope = 0. 50 & y - intercept = 15
