CP of 16 articles = SP of 12 articles

Let SP of 1 article is x

SP of 12 articles = 12x

Given :

the cost price of 16 article is equal to the selling price of 12 articles

CP of 16 articles = SP of 12 articles

CP of 16 articles = 12x

SP of 16 articles = 16x

Finding profit :-

SP is greater than CP. Hence, profit occurred.

Profit = SP - CP

Profit = 16x - 12x = 4x

Finding profit percentage :-

Profit Percent = (profit/CP) x 100

 \dfrac{4x}{12x}  \times 100

4 and 12 are cancelled as

4 x 1 = 4

4 x 3 = 12

 \dfrac{100}{3}  = 33 \dfrac{1}{3}\%
