Find the Prime Factors:

12 = 2² x 3

18 = 2 x 3²

.

Find the HCF:

HCF = 2 x 3 = 6

.

Number of papers in a pile = HCF = 6

.

number of piles of blue papers = 12 ÷ 6 = 2

number of piles of red papers = 18 ÷ 6 = 3

.

Answer: There are 2 piles of blue papers and 3 piles of red papers. Each pile has 6 papers.
