• Hitler's philosophy also encompassed the geopolitical idea of "Lebensraum," or "living space." He thought that in order to colonize new areas, new lands needed to be obtained.
• This would improve the mother country's region while allowing the settlers on other areas to maintain a close connection to their home country. Additionally, it would increase Germany's national might and material resources.
• Hitler wanted to consolidate all Germans geographically in one location by expanding German borders eastward. Poland was used as the testing ground for these experiments.
