Anne was a thirteen-year-old adolescent living in the Annexe. She was undergoing a lot of change during this period. She wanted to express her feelings but the compact space of the Annexe did not allow her to do so. She was also not that close to her mother and her sister. Even she had to share her room with Mr. Dussel. In the absence of space and exposure, she started to pen down her feelings in her diary. She found her diary the safest and most secure place to write about her thoughts and feelings because it does not criticized and judged her.
