Given that,

Current through galvanometer I_{g}= 55

Current through galvanometer after shunt I_{g}'= 45

Shunt resistance = 8 ohm

We need to calculate the current through shunt

Using formula of current

I_{s}=I_{g}-I_{g}'

Put the value into the formula

I_{s}=55-45

We need to calculate the resistance of the  galvanometer

Using formula of parallel current distributes in increase ratio of resistance

\dfrac{I_{G}}{I_{S}}=\dfrac{S}{G}

G=\dfrac{I_{s}}{I_{G}}\times S

Put the value into the formula

G=\dfrac{55-45}{45}\times8

G=1.78\ \Omega

Hence, The resistance of the  galvanometer is 1.78 Ω.
