let the denominator be x,

so, the numerator would be x +1

According to question,

x+17/x+1-1 = 27

=>x+17 = 27(x)

=>x+17 = 27x

=>17 = 27x - x

=>17 = 26x

=>x = \frac{17}{26}

numerator is x = \frac{17}{26}

denominator is x+1 = \frac{17}{26} +1 = \frac{43}{26}
