Answer:

Let the numerator be x

let the denominator= x+4

If we add 8 to the numerator and subtract 1 from the denominator then the number obtained is 11/6.

 \frac{x + 8}{x  + 1}  =  \frac{11}{6}  \\

we know the denominator is x+4,from the numerator

that is

 \frac{x + 8}{x + 1}  =  \frac{11}{6}  \\  =  \frac{x}{x}  = \frac{11 - 8}{6 - 1} \\  =  \frac{x}{x}  =  \frac{3}{7}  \\  =  \frac{3}{7}

therefore the numerator is 3 and denominator is 7

x=3

x+4=3+4=7

hope it helps
