so denominator = 8+x
according to question, if (x+17)/(8+x -1) = 3/2
or, (x+17)/ (x+7) =3/2
or, 2x + 34 = 3x + 21
or, x = 13
AND x +8 = 13+8=21
so, the rational no. is 13/21.
