The density of water is 1.0 g cm-3. The density of iron is 7.8 g cm-3.The density of mercury is 13.6 g cm-3.

Answer the following;

1) will a piece of iron float or sink in water?
2) will a piece of iron float or sink in mercury?

HEY MATE!

If we take the 1st case in which iron piece is put inside water, then surely the iron piece would float on water as density of iron is greater than water.

But in second case the density of mercury is greater than iron due to which iron piece will sink in water.
