Let the smaller side be x
So the diagonal is 3x.
and another side be y.
One part of rectangle form a right angle triangle with
diagonal as hypotenuse.
(3x)^2 = (x)^2 + (y)^2
9x^2 = x^2 + y^2
9x^2 - x^2 = y^2
8x^2 = y^2
√8x^2 = y
y =2√2x
Ratio of its sides = 2√2 x : x
= 2√2 : 1
