The water particles in the air above the cup  will be moving faster compared with the water  particles in the cup which are closer together (Option a)

  • Water molecules in liquid state are compactly packed as compared to the water molecules in the vapor state. Because the intermolecular forces of attraction are greater in liquids than vapors.
  • Therefore, the constituent particles of liquid, on gaining energy, convert into vapors which can move about more freely.
