The diameter of a pipe at two points, where a venturi is connected is 8 cm and 5 cm and
the difference of levels in it is 4 cm. Calculcate the volume of water flowing through the
pipe per second.

Let the  cross−sectional area of first point, a1 =πr1^2

                                                                            =πd1^2/4

                                                                             =π x 8^2/4

                                                                               =16π cm^2

Let the cross−sectional area of second point , a2=πr2^2

                                                                     = πd2^2/4

                                                                     =π x 5^2/4

                                                                     =6.25π cm^2

Let the volume the flow of water is V

V= a1 a2 √2gh/ √a1^2−a2^2

therefore putting the values,

V=16π x  6.25π √2×980×4/ √(16π)^2−(6.25π)^2

 =1889 cm^3/s
