Given:

For spherical ball,

Diameter = 18 cm

To find:

Leather required to prepare spherical ball = ?

Solution:

 \\  \\ radius \:  =  \dfrac{diameter}{2}  \\  \\  =  \dfrac{18}{2}  \\  \\  = 9 \: cm

To find amount of leather required for making spherical ball we have to find the total surface area of sphere

 \:  \\  \\ surface \: area \: of \: sphere \:  = 4 \: \pi \: r {}^{2}  \\  \\  = 4 \times  \dfrac{22}{7}  \times 9 {}^{2}  \\  \\  = 1018.2 \: m {}^{2}

Required answer:

Thus, 1018.2 square meter leather is required to prepare spherical ball

Basic points:

# In sphere as there is no flat surface, total surface area of sphere is equal to curved surface area of sphere

# In hemisphere( half of sphere), total surface area of sphere = 3 π r² and curved surface area of sphere = 2 π r²
