GIVEN:

  • Diameter of a wheel = 70 cm
  • No. of revolutions completed by a wheel = 24

TO FIND:

  • What is the distance covered by the wheel ?

SOLUTION:

We have given that the diameter of the wheel is 70 cm

\rm{Radius = \dfrac{Diameter}{2} = \cancel\dfrac{70}{2}}

\bf{Radius = 35 \: cm}

We know that the formula for finding the circumference of the wheel is:-

\bf{\star \: Circumference = 2 \pi r \: \star}

According to question:-

\rm{\dashrightarrow Circumference = 2 \times \dfrac{22}{\cancel{7}} \times \cancel{35}}

\rm{\dashrightarrow Circumference = 2 \times 22 \times 5 }

\bf{\star \: Circumference = 220 \: cm \: \star}

To find the distance covered by the wheel, we use the formula:-

\bf{\star \: No. \: of \: revolutions = \dfrac{Distance}{Circumference} \: \star}

On putting the values in the formula, we get

\rm{\dashrightarrow 24 = \dfrac{Distance}{220}}

\rm{\dashrightarrow Distance = 24 \times 220 }

\bf{\dashrightarrow \star \: Distance = 5280 \: cm \: \star}

Hence, the Distance covered by the wheel is 5280 cm
