Answer :

Given Diameter of cone = 14 cm

Radius of cone (r) = Diameter ÷ 2 = 14 ÷ 2 = 7cm

Height of cone (h) = 24 cm

Now curved surface area of cone = πrl

where l is the slant height of cone

So to find the Curved surface area, we need to find slant height ( l )

which can be found by Pythagoras theorem

i.e.

 {l}^{2} = {r}^{2} + {h}^{2} \\ \\ {l}^{2} = 7 {}^{2} + 24 {}^{2} \\ \\ {l }^{2} = 49 + 576 \\ \\ {l}^{2} = 625 \\ \\ l = \sqrt{625} \\ \\ l = 25cm

Therefore curved surface area of cone =

\pi rl \\ \\ \frac{22}{7} \times 7 \times 25 \\ \\ 22 \times 25 \\ \\ 550 \: cm {}^{2}
