The diameter of solid metalic sphere is 16 cm . the sphere is melted and recast into 8 equal solid spherica balls. Determine the radius of the ball.

Since volume remains the same before and after the casting
volume of sphere = (4/3)* Pi * r^3
let R be the radii of balls
so (4/3)*Pi*r^3 = 8* (4/3) *Pi * R^3 and r = 8cm
r = 2R
so radius of the small ball is 4cm
volume of sphere = (4/3)* Pi * r^3
let R be the radii of balls
so (4/3)*Pi*r^3 = 8* (4/3) *Pi * R^3 and r = 8cm
r = 2R
so radius of the small ball is 4cm
