Given that:

  • The diameter of the base of a right circular cylinder is 4.2 dm and its height is 1 dm.

To Find:

  • The area of the curved surface in cm²?

Converting dm to cm:

  • 1 dm = 10 cm
  • Diameter = 4.2 dm = 4.2 × 10 = 42 cm
  • Height = 1 dm = 1 × 10 = 10 cm

We know that:

  • CSA of cylinder = 2πRh = πDh

Where,

  • CSA = Curved surface area
  • π = Pie = 22/7
  • R = Radius
  • h = Height
  • D = Diameter = 2R

Finding the CSA of cylinder:

↠ CSA = (22 × 42 × 10)/7

↠ CSA = 1320

Hence,

  • The area of the curved surface of a right circular cylinder 1320 cm².

QUESTIONS-:

The diameter of the base of a right circular cylinder is 4.2 dm and its height is 1 dm. Find the area of the curved surface in cm²?

EXPLANATION-:

Diametre=4.2

Radius=2.1 dm

We know that-:

\bf\; \leadsto \boxed{\underline{\tt CSA_{(Cylinder)}=2\pi rh}}

  • r=radius=2.1 dm
  • h=height=1 dm

Putting values-:

CSA=2×22/7×2.1×1

CSA=132 dm²

     or

CSA=(132×10)cm²

CSA=1320 cm²

∴The curved surface area is 1320 cm²
