Given :  The difference between an angle and its complement is 10°

To Find :   measure of larger angle.

Solution:

Let say angle is a  and its complement is b

Complementary angles adds up to 90°.

=> a + b  = 90°

difference between an angle and its complement is 10°

=> | a - b |  = 10°

a + b  = 90°

a - b = 10°

=> 2a = 100°

=> a = 50°  and b = 40°

a + b  = 90°

a - b = -10°

=> 2a = 80°

=> a = 40°  and b = 50°

measure of larger angle is 50°
