Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let length be X

Therefore breadth = X - 1

Perimeter = 2(l+b)

=> 2 ( X + X - 1 )

=> 2 ( 2X - 1 )

=> 4X - 2

Now, according to question,

New length = X + 7

New breadth = (X - 1) + 3

=> X + 2

New perimeter = 3(4X - 2)

Therefore, equation will thus be:

2{(X + 2) + (X + 7)} = 3 (4X - 2)

=> 2 { 2X + 9 } = 12X - 6

=> 4X + 18 = 12X - 6

=> 18 + 6 = 12X - 4X

=> 24 = 8X

=> X = 24/8 = 3

Therefore length is 3 cm
