To Find :-

• The present age of Ram .

Let Present age of Ram = x

Present age of Gaurav = y

After 5 years Age of Ram = x + 5

Age of Gaurav = y + 5

According to the first condition :-

x - y = 12

x = y + 12 ..................... equation (1)

According to the second condition :-

x + 5 = 2 ( y + 5 )

Putting value of x from equation 1..

y + 12 + 5 = 2y + 10

y + 17 = 2y + 10

17 - 10 = y

y = 7

Hence,

Present age of Gaurav = 7 years

Present age of Ram = 19 years
